Victoria designed my condo in Beaver Creek Colorado from the ground up. Everything got redone. I love how the space now feels so bright and inviting. We used lots of neutrals and light colors, which helped the space feel very spacious and open. Victoria brought a young and fresh perspective, and I could tell she is very current on what’s possible within design. I’m very busy, and I needed a designer I could trust to carry the project from start to finish. Victoria did just that. She always came well prepared, and the whole process felt stress-free. Plus, I really connected with Victoria’s laid-back and easygoing style. I’m currently working with Victoria on a second project and already have a third in mind.
Victoria is an absolute dream to work with, so much so that I find myself trying to engineer work so that I can call her! Victoria worked with me on the interior of our vacation apartment in Vail, while I traveled back and forth from London. She was always 100% professional, calmly in control at all times, and never hesitated to go the extra mile. She always listens, and her ideas - often very inspired – are always very much in keeping with the project parameters. We wanted a space that would stand the test of time and decided to aim for a space that was relatively neutral, but at the same time were very focused on the result not being too bland or soul-less. Victoria managed to help us create a warm and homely space that has lasted well. (The apartment was largely finished in 2010). Victoria listened to what we needed carefully, which I think is the sign of a wonderful designer. She was (and is) ever so helpful - both presenting new ideas/spaces to change perspective on, as well as pointing out ways of making more cost effective decisions without compromising quality - in the most charming way possible. Victoria always leaves the impression that her client's happiness is first and foremost her priority. The results are always brilliant. I could not recommend Studio James more highly.
Victoria redesigned a whole bedroom and bunk room downstairs in our Vail ski lodge. By the end, the space had been totally transformed into a luxury high end bunk room. Most everything was custom made, and Victoria even redirected air conditioning ducts to create a space completely tailored to our needs. During the project, I was in Australia, but Victoria was able to coordinate everything remotely and sent me samples of materials, which helped immensely. All in all Victoria was so easy to work with. I’ve worked with designers before, and Victoria definitely stands out. She knows her work; she was open to ideas; she was very professional and organized; she has a great sense of style; and I particularly appreciated her calm way of being. It just made the process enjoyable!
Victoria worked on every aspect of the project and we felt she really connected with us, the property, and the home we were trying to create. The house is quite unusual - and quite fun - and we wanted to be very involved with the journey, not just be presented with a final product. Victoria helped us find a contractor and we even brought the original architects onto the team. Most recently we've added a landscape design firm. Victoria has been the leader of the gang, keeping everything on track and coherent.
The space we wanted was modern, industrial and striking, but also calm, natural and comfortable, something that could operate for recreation as well as for relaxation. For example we've added a stellar interior climbing wall, a beautiful spiral staircase to really open up the main living area, and a sumptuous bathroom with a simply huge shower and a tub overlooking the Gore Mountains Range. We've created an awesome mud room with reclaimed wood paneling and a media room with beautiful sculpted felt walls. We have used steel and concrete extensively balanced with wood and hand picked stone.
Victoria has been great to work with – full of ideas and advice. She takes our ridiculous suggestions and makes them wonderful, and in the process has become a dear friend.
Victoria worked with us to remodel our 4 bedroom 4.5 bathroom Vail Ritz Carlton residence. The space felt old and outdated, and the space didn’t flow well for our family of 16. Once the project began, I knew the result would be great because Victoria took the time to understand what we wanted. She was also very sweet, with a totally positive way about her. The process was totally smooth and stress free. When the project was finished, the space was even better than we expected. We love how spacious the kitchen and living room now feel after Victoria moved several walls and added closets and cabinets. The space also feels so modern, comfortable, and luxurious due to the materials Victoria chose. We love our new space, and we loved working with Victoria.
